Med Aprovo was born from a simple frustration — medical study tools were either too passive, too scattered or not built for how modern students actually learn. We set out to fix that.
The right preparation tools — personalised AI summaries, high-yield flashcards, rigorous clinical quizzes with deep explanations — should be accessible to every student, regardless of their university or budget.
Med Aprovo brings together the latest advances in AI with a design philosophy rooted in how memory actually works: active recall, spaced repetition, exam simulation and weak spot targeting.
We're obsessive about one outcome: you walk into your exam confident, prepared and ready to pass.
It started during final year exams in Lisbon. Miguel was preparing for his clinical finals using a combination of PDF notes, random YouTube videos and a flashcard app that wasn't designed for medicine. He spent more time managing his study materials than actually studying.
He built a rough Python script that would generate clinical case questions from a topic list. His colleagues started asking for copies. Sofia joined to build it properly — with a real API, a database, and a proper quiz engine. André joined to make sure the clinical content was actually right.
Three months later, they launched a closed beta with 50 students from FMUL and FMUP. Pass rates among beta users in their subsequent exams were notably higher than their cohort average. The feedback was clear: this kind of tool should exist for every medical student.
Med Aprovo launched publicly in 2024. Today it serves students across Portugal, Brazil and internationally preparing for clinical licensing exams — in both Portuguese and English.
The mission is unchanged: give every medical student the best possible chance of passing.
